Helicopters Drop 39 Tons Of Water On Forest Fire In East Kazakhstan

Emergency crews are continuing to extinguish a forest fire in East Kazakhstan Region, Orda.kz reports.

The fire broke out on June 20 in the Ayuda tract, on the territory of the Asu-Bulak forestry area in Ulan District. Dry grass, shrubs, and forest vegetation caught fire. The total area of the blaze is still being clarified.

Two helicopters from the Ministry of Emergency Situations have been deployed to drop water on the fire from the air.

Employees of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the East Kazakhstan Region emergency department, Kazavialesoohrana paratroopers, and two Kazaviaspas helicopters are working at the scene.

Firefighters and foresters are extinguishing the blaze on foot, while helicopters are targeting the most dangerous areas from above. Emergency aviation has already carried out 13 water drops with a total volume of 39 tons.

Specialists have localized the main fire sources and prevented the blaze from spreading over a larger area.

Work to fully extinguish the fire is continuing. Emergency services say the situation is under control.
