Heavy Smoke in Almaty Metro Caught on Video

Smoke was reported at the Alatau metro station in Almaty. Passengers were asked to leave the train cars and move onto the platform, Orda.kz reports.
Videos from the scene were posted by users on Threads. The footage appears to show smoke spreading on the platform and near one of the train cars. Passengers left the train and looked around in alarm.
The editorial team sent requests to the city emergency department and to the metro’s press service. At the time of publication, there was no official comment.
A little later, the Almaty Metro press service commented on the situation. It said that at 17:02 a technical malfunction occurred involving a train at Alatau station, after which passengers were removed from the cars for safety reasons.
The next train picked up the passengers and continued along the route. The faulty train was sent to a siding at Moskva station. The train was removed from Alatau station at 17:05. No fire or smoke was recorded. There was no threat to the life or health of passengers.the metro said.
The situation has now been stabilized, and train service is operating normally.
