Almaty Metro will spend more than 7.1 billion tenge on the installation of platform doors designed to protect passengers from falling onto the tracks, Orda.kz reports.
According to the documentation, the work will cover the entire first line, from Raiymbek batyr to Bauyrzhan Momyshuly. At the same time, the new Kalkaman station, which is expected to open to passengers at the end of 2026, is not included in the list.
The project provides for the installation of so-called platform doors. These are glass partitions with automatic doors that separate the platform from the tracks. They open in sync with arriving trains and are intended to reduce the risk of passengers falling, as well as lower noise and dust levels.
The installation will be carried out at night, when the metro is closed. The contractor will perform the work as budget funding is allocated. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by December 31, 2027. The procurement notice was published on April 16, and public discussion will continue until April 20.
Under the contract, the contractor must provide the customer with all software and documentation, maintain a запас of components equal to at least 10% of the installed equipment, and fix any defects at its own expense.
