Foreigner Severely Burned After Allegedly Trying To Set Fire To Park In Kazakhstan

A foreign citizen was hospitalized with burns over 95% of his body after allegedly trying to set fire to property in a park in Kokshetau, Orda.kz reports.
A video of the fire in Kokshetau Central Park has been circulating on social media. The flames broke out on Abylai Khan Square, in front of the regional administration building. Screams from the injured man can be heard in the footage.
According to the Akmola Region police department, the incident happened on the night of June 12. Police said the foreign citizen was drunk and tried to set fire to park property, but suffered severe burns himself.
Our officers arrived at the scene, quickly extinguished the fire and provided first aid to the injured man,the department said.
Doctors at the Akmola multidisciplinary regional hospital are now fighting for his life. The regional health department said the patient, born in 1988, had burns over 95% of his body. He is in intensive care in extremely serious condition. Doctors determined the treatment plan together with Kazakhstan’s chief combustiologist.
Police said the man had been held administratively liable the day before, on June 11, for appearing drunk in public. They added that he had previously violated public order more than once.
Police have opened a criminal case. An investigation is underway.
