Foreign Ministry Clarifies It Has No Role in Case of Former Transport Prosecutor

Kazakh Foreign Ministry spokesman Aibek Smadiyarov has responded to journalists’ questions regarding the ministry’s involvement in the case of former chief transport prosecutor Maksat Duissenov, Orda.kz reports.
Smadiyarov stressed that the issue does not fall under the Foreign Ministry’s authority.
This matter is not within our jursitiction. You should contact the Prosecutor General's Office or the investigating authorities. We do not handle criminals,
he said.
Earlier, it was reported that former prosecutor Maksat Duissenov — an associate of Kairat Kozhamzharov — had requested asylum in Germany.
German authorities have offered limited comment on the matter, citing confidentiality.
