Nauryz Celebrations In Almaty To Last Nearly 10 Days

The Nauryz celebrations in Almaty will last nearly 10 days. Concerts, theatrical performances, exhibitions, charity events, and traditional games have been organized across various parts of the city. The program was prepared under the “Nauryznama” concept, Orda.kz reports.
According to the akimats, the festivities will take place at several locations across the city. The main venues will be Astana and Abay Squares, the pedestrian section of Zhibek Zholy Avenue, and Panfilov Street.
Festive events are also being organized in all districts of Almaty.
For example, in the Alatau District, celebrations will take place at Almaty Arena, and in the Almaly District, at Mahatma Gandhi Park. In the Auezov District, the venue will be the western shore of Lake Sairan, and in the Bostandyk District, First President Park.
The Zhetysu District will welcome guests at the city hippodrome, while in the Medeu District, festivities will be held on the pedestrian promenade along Pushkin Street. In the Turksib District, the celebration will take place in Saken Seifullin Park, and in the Nauryzbai District, on the square in front of the district akimat.
The venues will be decorated with national motifs, while yurts and themed art installations will also be set up.
Concert and Free Cable Car Ride to Kok-Tobe
The festive program begins on March 14 with Koris Kuni (Amal Merekesi), a day when it is customary to congratulate one another and exchange good wishes.
From 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the cable car ride to Kok-Tobe will be free.
At 12:00 p.m., the “Köktöbedegi Korisu” concert will begin there. Performers will include Madina Sadvakasova, Aigul Kosanova, the groups “KeshYou,” “Tumar,” “Made in KZ,” and “Alatau Serileri,” as well as artists from the Alatau Traditional Arts Theater. Organizers also promise an unusual show: a congratulatory performance using audio drones.
Charity Day
On March 15, the city will host charity concerts and performances.
Concert programs will take place at the Senim Active Longevity Center and the Bakytty Otbasy Social Center. For children from boarding schools, orphanages, and low-income families, the Sats Theater will stage a performance at the Palace of Schoolchildren.
Boarding schools and social institutions will also host charity theater performances and aid campaigns. In the city’s districts, targeted support is planned for veterans and families in need.
Day of Culture and Traditions
March 16 will be dedicated to Kazakh customs. The Nauryzbai District will host a musical and theatrical performance featuring traditional rituals.
The State Circus will host national games, including audaryspak and asyk atu. Various districts will organize master classes in folk crafts and exhibitions.
Shanyrak Day
On March 17, meetings and roundtables dedicated to family values will take place in Almaty. They will be held in social centers, libraries, and public spaces across the city.
For large families, the Sats Theater will present a performance at the Palace of Schoolchildren.
National Costume Day
March 18 will be dedicated to traditional attire. The city will host fashion shows of ethnic collections, national costume contests, and folklore evenings.
Exhibitions of national clothing and jewelry will also be organized on Arbat Street and at the Palace of Schoolchildren.
Renewal Day
On March 19, an environmental campaign is planned in all districts of Almaty, with residents taking part in tree planting.
National Sports Day
March 20 will be dedicated to sports competitions. Tournaments in Kazakh kuresi, togyzqumalaq, and other national sports will be held across the city.
There will also be competitions in asyk atu, tymak uru, lyanga, and kettlebell lifting, including events for people with disabilities.
The main Nauryz celebrations will take place on March 21–23. The city administration has promised to publish the full program for those days later.
