217 New Schools Built In Kazakhstan Over Three Years

They are designed to accommodate more than 460,000 students. The new buildings were constructed as part of the national project Keleshek Mektepteri and are expected to help address overcrowded classrooms and ease pressure on existing schools, Orda.kz reports.
The schools are being built primarily in fast-growing cities and settlements where there is a shortage of student places. At the same time, nearly half of the new educational institutions have opened in rural areas, which should help narrow the gap between urban and rural schools.
The new-format buildings differ from standard school designs. Their floor area is around 15–20% larger, while their level of technical equipment is several times higher. Depending on the region, the schools are designed to serve between 300 and 2,500 students. Classrooms are fitted with modern furniture and equipment, most of it produced in Kazakhstan.






Particular attention has been given to inclusivity. The schools include classrooms for children with special educational needs, and psychologists, speech therapists, and special education specialists work on site. The buildings are also equipped with elevators, ramps, and navigation systems to make movement easier.
Schools now also include recreation areas for students and teachers, spaces that were rarely предусмотрены in standard designs before.
For safety, the buildings are equipped with video surveillance systems connected to operational control centers, alarm buttons, warning systems, and automatic door-locking mechanisms. Security is overseen by licensed guards.
Keleshek Mektepteri is one of the largest education infrastructure projects in recent years. The new schools are intended not only to reduce pressure on older buildings, but also to create a more modern and comfortable learning environment.
