Five Fields Where University Grants Will Be Hardest to Win

Around 127,000 applicants in Kazakhstan have entered this year’s competition for state-funded university places, Orda.kz reports, citing the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
More than 75,000 grants have been allocated for bachelor’s programs this year. Of these, 60% are reserved for engineering programs, 20% for education and the remaining 20% for other fields, based on labor market demand.
Engineering, manufacturing, construction, education, and information and communication technology have remained the most popular fields for several years.
The highest number of applicants per grant is expected in translation, international relations, law, psychology and teacher training.
Grant recipients will be selected by the Republican Competition Commission, which includes representatives of government agencies and public organizations, as well as public figures.
The list of recipients will be published by August 10, while university enrollment will close on August 25.
