The Ministry of Finance has been granted powers to monitor public procurement in quasi-governmental organizations and hold them accountable for violations. These amendments were implemented based on recommendations from the Supreme Audit Chamber, reports Orda.kz.
The revised Code of Administrative Offences provisions enable the Ministry of Finance to respond promptly to procurement violations.
Awareness of the risk of liability for violating procurement rules will encourage quasi-public sector entities to more carefully comply with the rules. This will increase overall discipline. At the same time, the Ministry of Finance will have the opportunity to find systemic problems and make changes to the regulatory framework to improve procurement processes, the Supreme Audit Chamber believes.
Recently, members of the Senate proposed strengthening measures against corruption in the quasi-public sector.
