Road crews found heat-related damage on six sections of concrete highway in the Zhambyl, Pavlodar and Turkestan regions, Orda.kz reports, citing KazAvtoZhol.
Crews and special equipment were immediately sent to the affected areas. KazAvtoZhol said all the damage had been repaired.
Road services are now inspecting concrete highways around the clock. During extreme heat, road surfaces can reach temperatures of 60°C to 70°C or higher. This causes pressure to build up inside concrete slabs, which can make them buckle.
As of July 18, a total of 1,636.5 kilometers of national highways were under continuous monitoring.
