Export Bans: Kazakhstan Limits Timber, Russia Blocks Flowers
As of October 21, Rosselkhoznadzor will introduce temporary restrictions on the import of cut flowers and buds to Russia, accompanied by phytosanitary certificates from Kazakhstan. The main reason for the limitation is the re-export of flowers, mainly from the Netherlands, Poland and Belgium, Orda.kz reports.
According to Rosselkhoznadzor, safety control over these products from these countries is insufficient.
Western flower thrips, recognized as a quarantine pest for countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, have been repeatedly detected in Russia. According to their data, 43 cases of its detection in imported flowers have been recorded.
As of October 17, Russia has introduced temporary restrictions on the import of quarantine products from Kazakhstan, including grain.
Kazakhstan has decided to restrict the export of certain types of timber for up to six months. The ban includes softwood railway track sleepers and wood pellets. These measures are being introduced to support domestic producers and provide them with affordable raw materials.
The order to introduce restrictions will come into force on December 12, 2024.
The project was published on the Open NPA portal for public discussion, which will last until November 1.
