The European Union offered Ukraine a deal on "critical materials" on Monday, Orda reports, citing Politico.
The development comes as U.S. President Donald Trump claimed Washington was nearing signing a similar deal with Kyiv for the rights to its vast natural resources.
During a visit to Kyiv commemorating the third anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion, Stéphane Séjourné, Europe's Commissioner for Industrial Strategy, confirmed he had discussed the alternative proposal with Ukrainian officials.
Séjourné highlighted the mutual benefits of such an arrangement, noting that "Ukraine can supply 21 of the 30 critical materials that Europe requires, creating a win-win partnership."
