Kazakhstan’s labor force reached 9.84 million people, growing by more than 103,000 over the year, Orda.kz reports, citing the Ministry of Labor.

The number of employed people rose to 9.39 million. The strongest growth was recorded among salaried employees, whose number increased by almost 150,000 to 7.29 million.

At the same time, the number of self-employed people and those in less stable forms of employment declined. The authorities say this reflects a gradual shift toward formal employment, which provides workers with social protections.

A total of 388,512 Kazakhstanis found work through various government employment programs. Of these, 298,904 — around three quarters — secured permanent jobs, according to the ministry.

Earlier, Orda.kz reported which workers are expected to be in greatest demand in Kazakhstan.
