By decree of the Head of State, Sabr Yesimbekov was relieved of his post as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Japan, Orda reports.
For many years, he was part of the inner circle of Timur Kulibayev, one of the country's wealthiest people.
Sabr Sailaubekovich Yesimbekov has headed the diplomatic mission in Japan since 2021. Previously, he held high positions in the oil and gas industry.
Yesimbekov held key positions in KazTransOil, KazMunayGas, Samruk-Kazyna, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the ALMEX holding group.
The latter belongs to the Kulibayev couple. Yesimbekov's two daughters are also on the list of affiliates of the subsidiary insurance company of Halyk Bank, which Nazarbayev's son-in-law, Kulibayeb, also controls.
Yesimbekov has already been replaced.
By Toqayev's decree, Yerlan Baudarbek-Kozhatayev, who previously represented Kazakhstan in Greece, has been appointed in Yesimbekov's place.
He began his diplomatic career in 1992. He worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, headed the Department of Asia and Africa, and was Ambassador to the Republic of Singapore and concurrently to Australia and New Zealand.
