Dimash Qudaibergen became the first Kazakh artist to headline a solo concert at New York’s iconic Madison Square Garden, Orda.kz reports.
The performance, held on October 5 to a sold-out crowd, marked the launch of his new world tour, Stranger.
This isn’t just my personal moment, but also an important milestone for all of Eurasian culture. We act as cultural ambassadors on the other side of the planet,
Dimash said in an interview ahead of the concert.
The program featured some of his most acclaimed pieces, including SOS d’un terrien en détresse, The Story of One Sky, and Love’s Not Over Yet, produced by Grammy winner Walter Afanasieff.
Qudaibergen also introduced new arrangements — notably the song Stranger, which incorporated the Kazakh kobyz and a cello performance by Hauser.
The Madison Square Garden stage has hosted many of the world’s most renowned artists, from Michael Jackson and Beyoncé to Andrea Bocelli and the Beatles.
For Dimash, this was his second major concert in New York, following his 2019 Arnau tour.
Now, six years later, I want to give the audience something new. But let these songs also have a touch of nostalgia — they stay with me on every stage in the world,
he said.
The Stranger world tour first began in Almaty in 2022 and has continued to evolve, featuring new tracks such as When I’ve Got You, Smoke, and Fire, along with works inspired by Kazakh poet Saken Seifullin and international collaborations.
