In Astana, the first support has been poured for the next stage of the LRT project, which will extend toward the city of Kosshy, Orda.kz reports, citing City Transportation Systems.
In addition, the capital’s concrete plant has produced the first precast reinforced-concrete beam for the elevated section of the line.
In total, more than 300 supports are to be installed in the direction of Kosshy, along with 538 precast reinforced-concrete beams for the overpass and eight monolithic beams.
At the end of October last year, Astana akim Zhenis Kassymbek said at a meeting with residents that the new light rail line was planned to be extended to Kosshy.
According to him, the first section leading to Kosshy is expected to be completed within a year and a half. This line is only one branch of the project’s second stage. The other is to run along Syganak Street to Turan and then onward to the old railway station.
Test runs of the Light Rail Transport system, or LRT, are now almost complete, and the system is said to be ready for launch. The line is expected to open in the near future.
