On December 20, President Sadyr Japarov announced that construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway would begin on December 27, Orda reports, citing Kloop.
When we started this project, many did not believe in it, even mocked it, calling it a fairy tale. Now everyone sees that this is not a fairy tale, but a real project, Japarov said.
The construction of this railway is a project that has long been discussed.
China Railway International, Kyrgyz Temir Zholu, and Uzbek Uzbekistan Temir Yollari will be engaged in the construction effort.
Beijing will cover 51% of construction costs, whereas Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan will each cover 24.5%.
These figures also represent ownership.
Japarov has previously claimed that it would be 100% owned by Kyrgyzstan after the recuperation of investments.
