Kazakhstan will introduce additional railway routes and flights for the summer holiday season, Orda.kz reports.
The Transport Ministry said additional trains will begin operating on June 16. Fifteen new summer routes will be launched from Astana, Almaty, Karaganda, Aktobe, Semey, Oskemen, Kyzylorda, and Pavlodar to resort areas, including the coasts of Alakol and Balkhash.
The ministry said this will create about 550,000 additional seats. Officials also plan to add more cars to existing trains. During peak months, trains will have an average of 19 to 21 cars instead of the usual 13 to 15.
From June 1, a new passenger train will also launch on the Karaganda–Balkhash route.
From June to August, additional flights will operate from Astana and Almaty to Balkhash, Urjar, and Usharal. Planes will fly on these routes up to seven times a week.
The Transport Ministry said tickets for resort flights will remain affordable, costing 16,000 to 20,000 tenge one way. Officials said these prices were made possible through state subsidies.
In 2026, 6.4 billion tenge was allocated to support 24 domestic air routes. In total, flights on 60 domestic routes will operate in Kazakhstan this summer, with more than 800 flights per week.
