Kazakh carriers have been warned that Russia now requires QR codes for goods imported by road, Orda.kz reports.
According to Kazakhstan’s State Revenue Committee, Russia introduced the SPOT system for confirming expected goods on June 1.
Under the new rules, the recipient in Russia must issue a document on the upcoming delivery in advance and receive a QR code.
The driver must have the QR code and present it when crossing the border if requested by regulatory authorities.
Without a confirmed QR code, the vehicle will not be allowed to enter Russia.
Carriers and drivers are advised to check in advance with the Russian recipient whether a QR code has been issued under the SPOT system. They should also check that the QR code is available before arriving at the checkpoint, keep it in printed or electronic form, and compare the information in the code with shipping documents, including the goods, quantity, vehicle, and recipient.
The State Revenue Committee also warned carriers to consider possible delays at the border if documents are filled out incorrectly.
The committee asked carriers to take the changes into account when planning transportation and to coordinate with Russian recipients of goods in advance.
According to Russia’s Finance Ministry, SPOT will initially apply to goods imported into Russia from EAEU countries by road. Later, the system may be extended to other modes of transport.
