Astana Preparing for New Second Airport: Most Likely Location Revealed

Astana has not yet made a final decision on the site for its new second airport, but Transport Minister Nurlan Sauranbayev has named the most probable location, Orda.kz reports.
According to the minister, two main sites are currently under consideration, with priority given to the area towards Borovoye, near the “Balkaragai” recreation center. The presence of railways in the area could significantly simplify logistics.

Now we have two main locations. One of the key ones is towards ‘Balkaragai’. The final decision will be made after the feasibility study is completed,Sauranbayev said.
He emphasized that the new airport is a major project requiring substantial investment and modern technologies. The Astana Akimat is currently negotiating with several companies and selecting potential partners for the construction.
At the same time, the minister declined to name possible investors, citing ongoing negotiations.
