Can Kazakhstan Really Send Green Power To Europe Through The Black Sea?

Kazakhstan has ratified an agreement with Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan on exporting green electricity to Europe through the Caspian and Black seas, Orda.kz reports.
The agreement, approved by the Senate, lays the groundwork for linking the countries’ energy systems and organizing the transit of green electricity for export to Europe.
According to officials, electricity from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan is expected to go to Azerbaijan across the Caspian Sea and then onward to Europe through the Black Sea.

Senator Swindik Aldashev said the project would help Kazakhstan enter the European market and diversify its export routes.

Deputy Energy Minister Sanzhar Zharkeshev said the Black Sea route would connect the region’s energy systems with Europe and ensure direct electricity transmission. He noted that such projects are technically difficult and expensive, but are already being implemented elsewhere.
The Italian company is now implementing a similar project in the Black Sea, and it will also be useful for us.Zharkeshev said.
He added that the project has already moved beyond the idea stage and entered practical implementation.
