Kazakhstan and Kenya Prepare to Sign Cooperation Agreements

Kenyan President William Ruto has arrived in Astana at the invitation of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The two leaders are expected to discuss bilateral cooperation and sign several agreements on May 20, Orda.kz reports.
Ruto was welcomed at the airport by Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev.
In a post on social media platform, Ruto said he would remain in Kazakhstan for two days and described relations between the two countries as steadily strengthening over the past decade.
Kenya and Kazakhstan have been strengthening their friendship for more than a decade through a series of targeted contacts and meetings. It is time to take this warm relationship to a new level,Ruto wrote.
He noted that trade ties are already developing in areas including tea, flowers, fertilizers, and logistics, alongside growing direct links between Nairobi, Astana, and other Central Asian countries.


According to Ruto, Kenya is also interested in expanding cooperation in finance, information and communication technologies, tourism, energy, and educational exchange programs.
