The launch of Swiss-made Stadler Rail passenger railcars in Kazakhstan has been postponed once again, despite earlier plans to begin operations in April, Orda.kz reports.
According to Kazakhstan’s Transport Minister Nurdan Sauranbayev, the railcars are still undergoing acceptance procedures by Kazakhstan Temir Zholy. Officials say several technical issues affecting passenger safety remain unresolved.
This is related to technical matters. A number of technical issues affecting passenger safety were identified. Until a final technical decision is made, neither KTZ nor the ministry can give a specific timeline,Sauranbayev said during a government briefing.
The Swiss railcars had originally been expected to enter service by the end of 2025. Earlier reports indicated that deliveries were delayed after problems were discovered during testing.
