In Kazakhstan, authorities are considering granting akimats the right or obligation to subsidize interregional air routes to their regions, Transport Minister Nurlan Sauranbayev said at a government meeting, Orda.kz reports.
To implement the initiative, amendments to national legislation are required. In 2026, 6.4 billion tenge was allocated to support 24 socially significant air routes.
Supporting the development of tourist destinations will provide an additional boost to regional air transport. For the further development of domestic transportation, it is proposed to amend legislation, specifically to grant local executive bodies the right to subsidize interregional flights using their own funds,Sauranbayev said.
The proposal also includes exempting regular passenger flights from value-added tax.
