Astana to Host UEFA Presidential Election in 2027

The 51st UEFA Congress will be held in Astana on April 22, 2027. Delegates will elect the organization’s president and members of its Executive Committee, Orda.kz reports, citing Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports.

The UEFA Congress is the organization’s highest governing and legislative body. The meeting will bring together representatives of all 55 UEFA member associations, the organization’s president and Executive Committee, as well as representatives of FIFA, European leagues, club associations and international sports organizations.

UEFA will cover all costs associated with staging the event, the ministry said.

The ministry described the congress as part of Kazakhstan’s broader football development efforts, which include upgrading sports infrastructure, supporting youth football and changing how professional clubs are managed.

During the first stage of the commercialization program, 11 clubs adopted new management models involving private investors. Investment exceeded 80 billion tenge. Eight more clubs are expected to follow during the second stage.

On August 4, French football club Paris Saint-Germain announced plans to open an academy in Kazakhstan. The project is expected to support youth football, introduce modern training methods and facilitate international exchanges.
