The Almaty Economic Court has upheld a lawsuit filed by prosecutors and ordered a 33.98% stake in Tartyp JSC returned to state ownership. The stake had previously been sold below its value, Orda.kz reports, citing the Prosecutor General’s Office.
The Specialized Environmental Prosecutor’s Office sought to invalidate the registration and subsequent reorganization of Tartyp JSC into AK Tartip LLP, as well as the related legal acts.
The lawsuit was filed because the state-owned stake had been sold at an undervalued price, the Prosecutor General’s Office said.
The sale agreement, signed on October 18, 2017, had already been challenged in court. On July 12, 2023, a court declared the transaction invalid, and that ruling took effect.
The court has now granted a separate request from prosecutors to return the 33.98% stake to the state. The latest ruling, issued on July 30, 2026, has not yet entered into force.
AK Tartip collects and removes household waste in Almaty. In March 2024, the company faced public criticism over errors in utility bills. Hundreds of residents, many of them pensioners, sought recalculations after their bills listed more occupants than actually lived in their apartments, resulting in excessive waste collection charges.
