Almaty Metropolitan is now installing metal barriers to prevent accidents, according to Orda.kz.
The metro press service stated that the installation would be completed within a week.
This safety upgrade follows a tragic incident last December when 26-year-old Kanat Batkalgazy, who was visually impaired, lost his life after falling onto the tracks. He had mistakenly stepped into the gap between train carriages, believing it was the passenger entrance.
Majilis deputy and Commissioner for the Rights of Socially Vulnerable Categories, Kenzhegul Seitzhan, criticized the metro management, calling the tragedy a result of negligence.
