Alibek Tazhibayev, head of the Eurasian Monitoring Center for Analytical Research, has been appointed to lead the Kazakhstan office of the Russian Military-Historical Society, Orda.kz reports, citing the organization's press service.
The organization is currently preparing its activity plan for the year. Discussions are underway with Kazakhstani historians and public figures to develop joint programs. Future plans include cooperation with local universities, museums, and veterans’ associations.
The Russian Military-Historical Society was established by a decree from Vladimir Putin in 2012. Its stated mission is to research and promote Russian military history and prevent its distortion. Among its other goals are “raising the prestige of military service and fostering patriotism.”
In 2023, with support from the Russian Orthodox Church, the society unveiled a monument to Alexander Nevsky in Almaty. Vladimir Medinsky, a notable figure of the Putin administration, attended the ceremony.
