Where Are Incomes Highest in Kazakhstan After Almaty?

The Bureau of National Statistics has published data on Kazakhstanis’ incomes for the first quarter of 2026. Nominal incomes rose significantly, but after inflation the increase was almost invisible, Orda.kz reports.
According to the bureau, average per capita nominal cash income reached 252,619 tenge per month in the first quarter. This is 11.8 % more than in the same period last year. In real terms, however, the figure rose by only 0.1 % after inflation.
The highest incomes were recorded in Almaty, at an average of 408,200 tenge per month. It was followed by Ulytau Region at 353,000 tenge and Astana at 352,800 tenge. The top five also included Atyrau Region at 323,700 tenge and Mangistau Region at 288,900 tenge.
The lowest incomes were recorded in Turkestan Region, at 143,400 tenge per month. It was followed by Shymkent at 161,000 tenge, Zhambyl Region at 166,800 tenge, Zhetysu Region at 173,900 tenge and Kyzylorda Region at 178,800 tenge.
Among the regions, Almaty Region and Karaganda Region led in income growth, with increases of 19.1 % and 16.4 %, respectively.
