Over the past three days, debris has appeared in several villages in the Janibek district. An Orda.kz correspondent investigated what is currently known.

From March 23 to 26, Uzunkol, Abdolla, and Kamysty residents found wreckage at distances ranging from 1.5 to 15 kilometers from the nearest settlements. Locals stumbled upon the debris while herding livestock to pasture.

How long the parts had been lying in the open steppe remains unclear.

According to local officials, no UAVs were spotted in flight before the discoveries.

Zhannur Bekbau, deputy Akim of Janibek district, advised the media to direct official inquiries to the police and emergency services.

The official confirmed that the objects were discovered on March 23–24 near Uzunkol and Abdolla, and on March 26 near Kamysty. He explained that villagers located the wreckage after snowmelt, when seasonal livestock herding resumed.

Authorities have cordoned off the sites and formed a task force involving representatives from various agencies to investigate the incidents.

Kamysty village Akim Nurbolat Musin also confirmed that on the morning of March 26, at around 10:30 a.m., parts of a drone were discovered approximately 1.5 km from the settlement. Police, emergency services, local officials, and border guards responded to the site.

Currently, together with authorized services, verification activities are being carried out on the fact of the discovery of objects similar to fragments from an unmanned aerial vehicle in the Janibek district. All circumstances of the incidents are being established,
the regional police department reported.

Other Incidents

Over the past two months, five such incidents have been recorded in West Kazakhstan.

Deputy Defense Minister Shaikh-Khasan Zhazykbayev stated that relevant authorities are investigating these incidents. He mentioned that the Bokeyorda district hosts testing sites, and that technical malfunctions could be one possible explanation for the crashes.

Military expert Daulet Zhumabekov told Orda.kz that he sees no reason to suggest the drones originated from Russia deliberately.

In Belarus, they've already lost count of how many drones have flown in. They're being directed towards Ukraine. Ukraine is disrupts their GPS signals, and they're starting to stray. They run out of fuel and they just fall. I assume that something similar happened here,
Daulet Zhumabekov believes.
