Uzbekistan and Russia have signed documents defining the configuration of a future nuclear power plant in Jizzakh Region, Orda.kz reports, citing the Uzbek Atomic Energy Agency (Uzatom).

The project will be the first in the world to combine large and small reactors on one site: two VVER-1000 generation 3+ units and two RITM-200N small modular reactors.

A second agreement sets the basic terms for nuclear fuel supply, spare parts, and control equipment for both reactor types.

Uzatom Director Azim Akhmedkhadjaev highlighted the project’s unique character.
