Kazakhstan is continuing its efforts to restore the Turan tiger population, but the tigers themselves are in no hurry to help, Orda.kz reports.
According to minister of ecology and natural resources Erlan Nysanbayev, the tigers are doing well and are currently being kept in enclosures.
Last year, on December 23, the pair mated, but unfortunately it did not result in pregnancy. More recently, at the beginning of this year, mating was recorded again, and we hope this pair will still produce offspring. the minister said at a briefing in the Mazhilis.
Kazakhstan also plans to bring four more tigers from Russia. The animals are expected to arrive in late April or early May under agreements between the two countries.
That would bring the total number of tigers in Kazakhstan to six.
