Flights Delayed and Canceled at Astana Airport Due to Bad Weather
Astana airport has changed its flight schedule due to adverse weather conditions and operational issues reported by airlines. Dozens of arrival and departure flights were delayed, while some were canceled, Orda.kz reports.
According to the airport’s press service, 11 incoming flights from Almaty, Kostanay, Shymkent, Oskemen, Oral, Kyzylorda, Bishkek, and Omsk were delayed.
Two flights were delayed for airline operational reasons, while three others were delayed because of aircraft replacement. For the remaining flights, the reason was the late arrival of aircraft. Nine outgoing flights to Shymkent, Petropavlovsk, Semey, Almaty, and Omsk were also delayed. Two of them were delayed because of weather conditions in Astana, while the rest were affected by the late arrival of aircraft.
In addition, three incoming flights and eight outgoing flights were canceled. The reason was adverse weather conditions in the capital.
According to weather forecasters, Astana is expected to see variable cloudiness on March 10, with occasional snow, a blizzard, and fog. A northwesterly wind of 9–14 meters per second is expected, with gusts of 15–20 meters per second, and up to 23 meters per second in some areas during the day.
