Astana akim Zhenis Kassymbek earlier said that, on the instructions of the head of state, the city has been steadily digitizing its infrastructure and strengthening public safety, Orda.kz reports.
Together with Presight AI, the capital is implementing the Smart City project, which includes the creation of a Situation Center and a unified digital city management platform.
The system integrates data from more than 15 city and national information systems, as well as data from urban sensors. More than 60,000 surveillance cameras have already been connected to the platform, including devices equipped with intelligent video analytics.
As Kassymbek noted, every second crime in the capital is now solved with the help of surveillance cameras. According to him, this has significantly improved the effectiveness of law enforcement and helped reduce crime.
The project is also being implemented as part of the “Law and Order” initiative aimed at strengthening safety and discipline in the urban environment.
The results are reflected in international rankings. According to Numbeo, in 2026 Astana entered the world’s top 100 safest cities, rising 24 places from 105th to 81st.
According to the plan, the Smart City project should improve public and road safety, enhance traffic management, and ensure more effective coordination of city services.
Earlier, at a meeting on the capital’s development, the head of state stressed the need to expand digital solutions for city management, including those based on artificial intelligence.
