More than 40 tourists from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia have been unable to leave the Chatkal Valley in Kyrgyzstan for three days. A powerful water flow washed away bridges across mountain rivers, Orda.kz reports, citing 24.kg.
One of the tourists, Wildan, said there are 10 people in his group, including three children. Another group from Bishkek, with about 30 people, is staying nearby.
We have been here for the third day. We were told to wait until the bridges are restored. Today is Sunday, and no work is being done. It is good that we have cars and tents, so we have places to spend the night. Everyone feels fine, there is no panic,he said.
The tourists are near Lake Kara-Tokoy, close to the border with Talas region. They cannot cross the river on their own because of the strong current. Rescuers are delivering food by throwing it across the river. Local residents are also helping.
Despite the situation, everyone is feeling well and waiting for the crossings to be restored.
