Tourist Dies in Mountains of Turkistan Region

The man’s companion, who was unable to descend from a mountain pass at an altitude of 2,400 meters, was evacuated by helicopter, Orda.kz reports, citing the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The emergency occurred on the Shunkulduk Pass in Tole Bi District, within the Aksu-Zhabagly Nature Reserve.

The surviving tourist told rescuers that his friend had suddenly fallen ill and died. His own condition later deteriorated, leaving him unable to descend without assistance.

A Kazaviaspas helicopter was dispatched to the area. Rescuers evacuated the man, born in 1993. Doctors examined him and determined that he did not require hospitalization.

The body of the second tourist, born in 1978, was also recovered from the mountain. According to preliminary information, he died after suddenly becoming ill.
