Toqayev Appoints New Ambassadors: Olzhas Suleimenov to Represent Kazakhstan in Denmark

President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev has made several changes to Kazakhstan's diplomatic corps, signing a decree to appoint new ambassadors, Orda.kz reports.
According to Aqorda, Gabit Koishybayev has been relieved of his duties as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Mongolia. He will be replaced by Almas Seitakynov, a career diplomat who previously served in China, headed the Middle East Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and held posts in the Department of Asia and Africa.
Sergey Viktorov has been appointed as Kazakhstan’s new ambassador to Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, Olzhas Suleimenov — currently serving as Kazakhstan's ambassador to Sweden — will also represent Kazakhstan concurrently in Denmark. Born in Pavlodar in 1980, Suleimenov graduated from Abay Almaty State University and the University of Nottingham in the UK. He speaks Kazakh, Russian, and English, and has held various positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Senate, and Kazakh embassies in Spain, as well as headed the European Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Gabit Koishybayev, who has been recalled from Mongolia, was born in Almaty in 1972. He is a graduate of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the Diplomatic Academy of Kazakhstan. Over the years, he has held senior positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Presidential Administration, and served as ambassador to both China and Mongolia.
No official biography of Sergey Viktorov was available in open sources at the time of publication.
Earlier this month, Darkhan Kaletayev was dismissed as ambassador to Ukraine, having served in the position since 2020. His successor is seasoned diplomat Tolezhan Barlybayev, who previously represented Kazakhstan in Slovakia, Croatia, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The appointment was made by presidential decree on April 17. Around the same time, Ukraine appointed Viktor Mayko as its ambassador to Kazakhstan, filling a post that had been vacant since 2022.
