Ukrainian President has signed a decree appointing Viktor Mayko as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Orda.kz reports.
Before this appointment, Mayko served as Ukraine’s ambassador to Turkmenistan.
The position had remained vacant since October 2022, after the dismissal of former ambassador Petro Vrublevsky following a diplomatic scandal.
On August 21, 2022, a clip from Vrublevsky’s interview with Kazakh blogger Dias Kuzairov circulated online, in which he made controversial remarks about Russian nationals.
