Tokayev Appoints New Akim of Kyzylorda Region

Murat Yergeshbayev, a former Mazhilis deputy, has been appointed the new akim of the Kyzylorda region, Orda.kz reports.
The corresponding decree by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was published by Akorda.
Before being elected to parliament, Yergeshbayev worked in public administration for many years and held various posts in the Kyzylorda region.
He is an economist by education. He graduated from the Alma-Ata Institute of National Economy and the National Higher School of Public Administration under the president of Kazakhstan. He began his career in the late 1980s as a state farm economist. He later worked in the banking sector, serving as deputy head of the Kyzylorda regional department of Alem Bank Kazakhstan, adviser to the deputy regional akim, and director of the regional branch of Halyk Bank.
Over the years, Yergeshbayev also served as akim of Kyzylorda and as akim of the Karmakshy, Shieli, Kazaly and Syrdarya districts of the Kyzylorda region. He also headed the regional finance department and the department for coordination of employment and social programs.
Yergeshbayev entered the Mazhilis in March 2023 on the AMANAT party list.
Previously, the position of akim of the Kyzylorda region was held by Nurlybek Nalibayev, who was recently appointed first deputy prime minister. At the same time, the president dismissed Presidential Administration chief Aibek Dadebai. He was replaced by Roman Sklyar, who had held the post of first deputy prime minister.
