Amur Tiger Cubs Make First Public Appearance at Zoo

Amur tiger cubs born on June 14 have spent the past months in seclusion, growing stronger under the close care of their mother and veterinarians, Orda.kz reports.
The zoo shared a touching video of the young tigers on its official Instagram page.
Amur tigresses have a highly developed maternal instinct and a need for isolation. In the first months of life, the mother forms a strong bond with her cubs and is especially sensitive to outside disturbances, zoo staff explained.
Now that the cubs are healthy and the quarantine period is over, the family is ready to move. Starting this weekend, visitors will be able to see the tigress with her cubs in an open enclosure and watch the little ones explore the world for the first time.
The birth comes as part of a broader conservation effort. Since 2018, Kazakhstan has been running a tiger reintroduction program in the Ili River delta with support from WWF and UNDP.
