Kazakhstan’s Ile-Balkhash State Nature Reserve has released new footage showing how reintroduced tigers are settling into their new habitat. The video was published on July 29, to mark International Tiger Day.
Experts say the Turan tiger once ruled the Kazakh steppe, and its reintroduction remains one of the country’s most ambitious ecological projects.
Earlier, officials at the Altyn-Emel National Park reported that rare steppe eagles — listed in Kazakhstan’s Red Book — have successfully hatched chicks this season. Their nest was discovered in the Bashshy forestry sector.
