Tibet Earthquake Update: 126 Dead, 188 Injured
The death toll from the powerful earthquake in Tibet's Autonomous Region has risen to 126, with 188 people injured, according to China's Xinhua news agency.
The region, which borders Nepal and Bangladesh in southwestern China, has seen widespread destruction, with over 3,500 buildings collapsing in the aftermath. Twenty-eight of the injured have been transferred to a municipal hospital for treatment.
The 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck Tingri County, with its epicenter located 163 kilometers from Shigatse, a city of approximately 800,000 residents.
More than 1,500 personnel are currently engaged in search and rescue operations in the affected areas.
