Several days ago, people waiting at a bus stop in Taraz witnessed a shocking scene — a young woman was forced into a car and driven away as she screamed for help, Orda.kz reports.
As it later became known, the kidnapping was carried out for marriage. The suspects — three residents of Almaty — were soon detained. On October 30, the court placed them under house arrest.
It turned out the parties had previously known each other and had no conflict. The young woman told investigators it was a misunderstanding: she did not recognize the kidnappers and panicked.
Only later did she realize they were friends of her partner.
When I was already in the car and we were driving away, I saw my boyfriend, whom I've known and talked to for over six years, was behind the wheel. We had an agreement and even discussed marriage. But since everything was postponed until the spring, I didn't think I could be kidnapped. When we stopped at a traffic light, I got out of the car and went home,
the young woman said.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that the case is under supervision by its leadership. A criminal case has been opened under Article 125-1 of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan, “Coercion into Marriage.”
