Customs duties and taxes on the import of cargo aircraft have been abolished for 12 years. The decision was supported by the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission, which should allow airlines to renew their fleets more cheaply and conclude contracts on more favorable terms, Orda.kz reports.
According to the government’s press service, duties on such aircraft currently stand at 7.5% and 12.5%. In the coming years, Kazakhstan is expected to need 130 cargo aircraft.
The Eurasian Economic Commission also approved the abolition of duties on the import of LED modules for several countries, including Kazakhstan. The measure is aimed at developing production within the EAEU.
In addition, the parties agreed to introduce mandatory labeling for a number of goods, including construction materials, paints and varnishes, some toys, and drinks such as tea, coffee and cocoa. At the same time, each country will determine its own timeline and procedure for implementation.
The rules for determining the country of origin of goods in public procurement have also been changed. This should simplify access to the procurement market for manufacturers from EAEU countries. In particular, the requirements for the production of fiber-optic cable have been clarified, and the list of goods whose origin can be confirmed by an ST-1 certificate has been expanded. For example, synthetic fiber ropes and X-ray inspection systems have been added to the list.
These measures are expected to help manufacturers enter the Eurasian Register of Industrial Products and expand access to markets in EAEU member states.
