Supreme Court Chair Aslambek Mergaliyev presented the court system's 2024 results during a meeting with President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev.
According to Mergaliyev, the judicial system has reached near-optimal performance over the past five years, with 98.9% of local court decisions being upheld as legal and justified.
This improvement is partly attributed to artificial intelligence implementation, which helps establish uniform judicial practice and streamlines judges' work.
Through automation, one-third of cases and materials were processed — 665,000 out of two million, Mergaliyev reported.
The Chair also highlighted several developments:
- Creation of new cassation courts
- Legislative initiatives to strengthen judicial independence
- Increased jury trials (from 147 to 261 cases)
