State-Owned Plant in Atyrau Tried to Buy Sturgeon Caviar for Nearly 150 Million Tenge

The Atyrau Sturgeon Fish Plant is a key enterprise involved in preserving the sturgeon population in the Caspian basin. It raises juvenile beluga, Russian sturgeon, ship sturgeon and stellate sturgeon, and releases millions of fry into the Zhaiyk River and the Caspian Sea every year. Many of these species are listed in the Red Book.
