Seven Regions of Kazakhstan Face Drought in August

Kazhydromet says drought conditions are expected in seven regions of Kazakhstan in August, Orda.kz reports.
Dry weather is forecast in parts of West Kazakhstan, Aktobe, Atyrau, Almaty, Zhambyl, Turkistan, and Kyzylorda regions. The south faces the widest risk: eight districts in Turkistan Region and five in Zhambyl Region are expected to experience drought.
Moisture levels in the rest of the country are expected to remain near normal. Moderately wet conditions are forecast only in Timiryazev District in North Kazakhstan Region and Uzunkol District in Kostanay Region.
Where Drought Is Expected
- West Kazakhstan Region: Bokeyorda and Zhanibek districts
- Aktobe Region: Shalkar and Irgiz districts
- Atyrau Region: Kurmangazy District
- Almaty Region: Balkhash District
- Zhambyl Region: Moiynkum, Kordai, Sarysu, Talas, and Zhambyl districts
- Turkistan Region: Arys, Sozak, Kazygurt, Ordabasy, Shardara, Zhetysay, Baidibek, and Keles districts
- Kyzylorda Region: Kazaly, Karmakshy, and Shieli districts, as well as the city of Kyzylorda
Earlier, Kazhydromet forecast unstable weather across most of Kazakhstan on August 5.
