Foreigner Detained in Almaty for Suspected Extremist Activity and Rituals

A foreign national has been detained in Almaty on suspicion of distributing extremist materials and performing unorthodox rituals, Orda.kz reports.
The operation was conducted with the involvement of the police, the National Security Committee (KNB), and special forces. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the individual conducted religious and occult practices. Authorities seized printed materials containing signs of extremism during a search.
A criminal case has been initiated, and the suspect has been placed in a temporary detention facility.
Earlier, in March, Kazakh authorities reported the detention of nearly 10,000 undocumented nationals, including nationals of Bangladesh, Egypt, Italy, Nigeria, and Madagascar.
