Investigators of the Main Investigative Department of the Russian IC, in cooperation with the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, detained a citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan born in 1995, suspected of committing the terrorist attack, which killed the head of the radiation, chemical and biological protection forces of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Igor Kirillov and his assistant Ilya Polikarpov, the IC writes.
Russian law enforcement reports that they detained the suspect in Chernoe, Balashikha district, Moscow region.
Reportedly, the suspect admitted to being "recruited by the Ukrainian special services."
Russian law enforcement purports he arrived in Moscow and received an improvised explosive device on the Ukrainian special services’ instructions.
He later installed it on an electric scooter, which he parked at the entrance of the apartment building where Igor Kirillov lived.
A day before, Ukraine's security service claimed responsibility for the assassination, saying Kirillov was a "legitimate target." The Ukrainian government did not immediately comment.
