Staff changes in Shymkent’s city administration are ongoing, Orda.kz reports.
With approval from the Presidential Administration, Akim Gabidulla Abdrakhimov appointed Yerzhan Seytenov as deputy akim of Shymkent.
Seytenov, 50, is originally from the Qyzylorda region. Over the years, he has held various leadership posts, including heading Almaty’s departments for land use control, “Green Economy,” and housing policy.
From 2021 to 2023, he served as akim of Almaly district, and since October last year, he has been chief of staff of the Shymkent akim.
Recently, first deputy akim Kuanysh Asylov left his post for another job, with Aydyn Karimov taking over. Another deputy, Arman Sabitov, was also appointed. The exact portfolios of the new deputies have not yet been determined.
Meanwhile, rumors have circulated online about the departure of Deputy Akim Ruslan Berdenov.
However, city officials denied this.
There is no dismissal order. He went on sick leave and is receiving treatment. If Ruslan Berdenov wishes to continue working in the akimat, he may do so. Otherwise, he will submit his resignation,
city administration spokesman Sarsen Kuranbek said on August 27.
Earlier this spring, Berdenov survived an armed attack carried out by his subordinate, Yernar Zhiembay. On August 20, Zhiembay was sentenced to nine years in prison.
The reshuffles also coincided with high-profile arrests: Anticor officers detained Arman Abdeshev, head of the architecture department, and Nurbol Zhunisbekov, head of the housing department.
